UNFF11 Policy recommendations

The eleventh session of the United Nations Forum on Forests will take place from May 4-15, 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York.

Based on the outcomes of the Major Groups-led Initiative held in Kathmandu, Nepal, Major Groups Partnership on Forests have prepared policy papers on the following themes:

In accordance with its multi-year programme of work for the period 2007-2015, at its eleventh session the Forum is to consider the overall theme “Forests: progress, challenges and the way forward for the international arrangement on forests ” (see Forum resolution 7/1), as well as the following three subthemes:

  • reviewing the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests and consideration of all future options;
  • reviewing the progress towards the achievement of the global objectives on forests and the implementation of the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests;
  • and reviewing the contribution of forests and the international arrangement on forests, including the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests, to the internationally agreed development goal
